Revolutionizing Automotive Safety: Arbe Robotics Unveils Cutting-Edge Radar Processor
In a groundbreaking revelation to embedded.com, Arbe Robotics proudly announces the release of its latest innovation—the production version of the advanced radar processor. This state-of-the-art technology is a game-changer in the world of OEM development projects and B-Sample radars, setting new standards in processing power, efficiency, and safety.
Arbe Robotics' radar processor marks a monumental leap forward, boasting a remarkable 10X improvement in processing power compared to existing alternatives. This technological marvel seamlessly integrates with the company's production chipset portfolio, which already includes top-tier production RF chips.
The computational prowess of this radar processor enables real-time processing of vast amounts of raw data generated by Arbe's impressive 2,304 virtual radar channel array—comprising 48 receive and 48 transmit channels—at an astounding 30 frames per second. Handling raw data input at a maximum rate of 28.8 Gbps, the processor ensures swift pre-processing, with internal processing matching the rate of 3Tbps. The processor's output reaches a point-cloud at an impressive rate of up to 1Gbps—a testament to its efficiency in handling massive data loads.
Arbe Robotics' commitment to excellence is evident in the advanced hardware acceleration incorporated into the radar processor. This innovation optimizes and offloads the intricate radar calculations, supporting four times better range resolution with up to 2K range bins compared to existing solutions on the market. The processor offers a versatile one-mode configuration suitable for short, mid, and long ranges, ensuring scalability to support both surround imaging radars and long-range front perception radars.
Designed with a software-defined architecture, the processor empowers users with control over radar parameters, including modulation, pre-processing flow, and post-processing. It features a dual-core application processor and a dual-core DSP with a 512-bit vector unit, making it ideal for implementing Tier 1 and OEM algorithms. Additionally, the processor incorporates a built-in hardware security module with encryption accelerators and key management in a secured island, providing enhanced security.
Kobi Marenko, the CEO at Arbe, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Our powerful perception radar solution requires the strongest processing chip on the market today, which we designed at Arbe. Our patented processor has the richest point cloud output that supports the OEMs' perception needs while maintaining low power consumption—a feat no other company has achieved."
In the company's Q3 results announcement, Arbe projects a full-year revenue in the range of $5 to $7 million, highlighting its strong position in the market. The company is in the final selection stages with leading OEMs globally, accounting for a substantial 31% share of the global passenger vehicle market.
Arbe's Tier 1 partners, including Magna, HiRain, Weifu, and Sensrad, continue to make strides towards radar system production based on the innovative Arbe chipset. The delivery of Tier 1 radar "B Samples" utilizing Arbe's chipset to car manufacturers marks a significant milestone in the company's journey, supporting OEMs in their data collection for L2+ and L3 applications.
Despite challenges, including the current situation in Israel, Arbe assures its customers that manufacturing and production are conducted in Germany by GlobalFoundries, ensuring no impact on product availability. The CEO, Kobi Marenko, expressed his gratitude to the team for their dedication, emphasizing Arbe's commitment to executing business priorities as planned.
As Arbe Robotics continues to make waves in the automotive industry, the market recognizes the rising significance of imaging radars as a backbone of the automotive sensor suite. Arbe's cutting-edge technology is uniquely positioned to meet this demand, setting new benchmarks for safety, autonomy, and innovation. Stay tuned for further updates as Arbe Robotics continues to shape the future of automotive safety technology.
